Web Syndication started as an attempt to restructure information about websites back in 1995 at Apple Computer’s Advanced Technology Group. It has come a long way since, today RSS has become an integral part of most blogs and websites. Readers look at RSS as a mode of unspammable content delivery. Popularity of a blog is no more a function of backlinks alone, now people also consider the number of subscribers as an important indicator of blogs popularity. RSS also helps improve your SERP, makes you more visible on the internet and helps you easily publish your content on other sites.

Ans.There are no fixed principles to increase you subscribers. But ,Here are a few things that you might want to consider:


1. Make the RSS Icon Visible: It is best to have a RSS icon placed right at the top of the page(Near Header). If that’s not possible in your case then have it somewhere above the fold.

2. Email Subscription: A lot of people still do not know what RSS is. Email Subscription is a must, especially if you have a niche not relating to technology. Learn more about Email Subscriptions here.

3. Ask the reader to Subscribe at the end of your post: If a person has read the entire post, this means he/she likes the content and is a potential subscriber, all you need to do is show him a subscription link. You may want to add “Add to Google Reader”, “Add to Netvibes” etc. buttons if you think that your readers would prefer that. But remember not to overdo it.

4. Give away some Goodies to the Subscribers: If you have many subscribers then randomly pick one every week and give them some goodies. You can have a “Subscriber of the Week” just below your RSS icon. Incase you are looking for subscribers host a contest where every participant needs to subscribe to RSS.

5. Offer a full feed: Lot of people ask me if it is a good idea to offer full post in the feed? The answer is Yes. It is annoying to see only a summary of the post, this might make the reader unsubscribe. You can always put ads in your feeds, but remember not to overdo it.

6. Display FeedBurner Feed Count: If you have over 300 subscribers then it is a good idea show your feed count. This will help convince the reader that the blog is offering good content.

Problem of Team Blogging: Sharing the adsense revenue !

Before i started blogging, i had decided to Start a team blog with my some of my good friends as i thought Team blogging can be the best way to generate better and unique content and also better revenue.More the teammates ,more the profit. The setting >permission option in the blogger was proved to be a great blessing for the team blogging.

I decided team blogging as I dont have much time to write a post everyday. I searched for my friends who are very interested in blogging but don't have a time to update the blog each and everyday. Most of my friends were ready for this. Domain, blog, post or promotion of the blog was not a big problem for us. Only problem was sharing the advertisement revenue!

"How are we going to share the Advertisement Revenue?"

We all were very familiar with Google Adsense, so we decided to carry on with adsense.
One of my friend said that one of us will become a fixed trusted partner or leader who will use his adsense account to get the adsense money will share it equally among the teammates.That fixed partner will keep his Ads on the team and send the money as a Draft or any other payment method.
Anyway i disagreed to this method as all of the teammates were already blogger and they do have another blog running their with advertisement and also there is a possiblity of fraud .
There were also some teammate who lived very far in some other countries, so it was a bit difficult to share the revenue.

We had many groupchats regarding this matter.

we also surf about sharing adsense revenue and got one method in which we have to alter or modify the Adsense Script.
We again disagreed as modifying the Adsense Script is against the policy of google. Google doesn't allow the modification of the adsense script. According to Google,"Any AdSense code must be pasted directly into webpages without modification. AdSense participants are not allowed to alter any portion of the code or change the behavior, targeting, or delivery of ads." (see second point in " Site and Ad Behavior " in the Google Adsense policy ).We never wanted to do anything that could result in our adsense accounts getting banned.

So, In this way my idea of working in a team blog didn't work.
All of my team members were basically common bloggers. They didn't have much experience how to share the money and many other technical stuff.

Team blogging is same like an evolution of Human being from stone age to modern age.
Before the Man use to work and survive alone to get his food which was very difficult. So he decided to work in a group so that he can get more food and can survive better. It shows that working in Group helped him to live easy life. This can be applied to blogging too. It is good to work in team than working alone. we can easily write article and promote the blog in better way by distributing the work. Working in a team also helps to get better reviewed article and get the chance of improving yourself with the experience of your teammates.

However, my idea of team blog didn't work due to the problem of sharing the money. we droped the idea of working as a team blogger. I wish google could introduce the new option of Sharing the Adsense revenue among the fellow adsense users in future. All the bloggers are not expert in Sharing and maintaining the team money.

I will be still looking to work in a team blog in the future.

There are many people who are waiting for such service so that they can work online as blogger without much difficulties.

Blogger's Custom Domain Trouble ...!

I had to worked very hard to make a working domain for this Blog as I am not an expert in this field. Configuring your Domain is a very frustrating work if you know nothing about the working of the DNS and Domain.

What if you Buy a Domain and get Error Like "Another Blog is already hosted at this address " Or " 404 Error , Url not found on this server "

You will sure feel that you have wasted your money. Then you may Choose to move to another blog hosting like Wordpress or some other paid hosting .
Remember Leaving the hope will never help you . So be prepared to face any kind of trouble.

It took me three days to solve this problem.

Now here i start my story about custom domain,

I wanted to start blogging from a long time.This time i decided to start Blogging .So after some surfing about custom Domain, i thought that it is very easy to start working with Custom Domain.(which was my biggest mistake ).

According to blogger , we just have to make a CNAME record based upon your registrar. I had a Znetindia as Domain registrar which was very different from Registrar mentioned by the Blogger.

Now i did what was written in blogger's help. I made a CNAME record pointing to ghs.google.com with WWW as alias and 14400 as TTL (anyhow the TTL doesnt matter much) .

After that, I tried to give my domain in Advance setting , in the Publishing option in Blogger but it Showed,"Another Blog is already hosted at this address".

From here i started getting the taste of trouble.

I also posted a question about it in Google Help but nobody replied me. Looks like there is no google employee to help me out.
This was the most fustrating time for me.I thought i should have brought something else instead of wasting money in domain.

Now i gave my domain as themangoblog.com instead of www.themangoblog.com in the advanced setting and luckily it was accepted .After that i still had trouble in redirecting the mangoblog.com to www.themangoblog.com.
It showed me 404 error when i visit my site.

Now i have two errors

First one is "Another blog is already hosted at this address" when i try to redirect or give www.themangoblog.com in blogger.

second is " 404 error, Url not found on this server "
This shows that the ghs.google.com got the Bug in their database.

Again i started surfing about it and found the Magic custom domain form. I gave my domain www.themangoblog.com in that.
i made some changes in Domain. I made a new record pointing to ghs.google.com with no name or alias or u can say @ in the record.

Now i got Two CNAME record.

First one is Record pointing to ghs.google.com with www
second one is record pointing to ghs.google.com without www or you can say @.

I still had a problem .so i removed all the A records and MX records.
All i did was by experimenting the Different Record.

Finally My setting were :

Two CNAME record pointing to ghs.google.com with and without www ie @ or .

No A record

No MX record

This setting worked with me unless i need some special service like mail forwarding or something.

I also noted the all previous setting of my records so that i can restore it if anythings go wrong.

PLZ REMEMBER : It takes time to update your DNS setting so plz wait atleast for 3-4 hrs after you make any changes in you Domain setting.
