6 Effective ways to Increase your RSS Count

Web Syndication started as an attempt to restructure information about websites back in 1995 at Apple Computer’s Advanced Technology Group. It has come a long way since, today RSS has become an integral part of most blogs and websites. Readers look at RSS as a mode of unspammable content delivery. Popularity of a blog is no more a function of backlinks alone, now people also consider the number of subscribers as an important indicator of blogs popularity. RSS also helps improve your SERP, makes you more visible on the internet and helps you easily publish your content on other sites.

You have RSS feed in your Blog or website But still not getting enough subscribers. You Might have wondered how other Blogs gets so many subscribers like more than 5,000 or 10,000!
WOW, more than 10,000 !
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE ???

sometime you think that you cannot ever reach that number of subscribers, but that's not true.
You have keep on try and experimenting to achieve your task.

Think like a Reader not Writer.
See what you want from a blog if you were a reader?

Here are two questions that you need to answer yourself to increase your subcribers...

1).What do I need to increase the number of subscribers?

2).How do I increase the number of subscribers?

1).What do I need to increase the number of subscribers?

Ans.
The answer is simple. Original and Quality content. This is the minimum you must have in these competitive times. If you are unsure about it, ask people you don’t know to get a frank assessment or drop a comment we would love to help you out.

2).How do I increase the number of subscribers?

Ans.There are no fixed principles to increase you subscribers. But ,Here are a few things that you might want to consider:

1. Make the RSS Icon Visible: It is best to have a RSS icon placed right at the top of the page(Near Header). If that’s not possible in your case then have it somewhere above the fold.

2. Email Subscription: A lot of people still do not know what RSS is. Email Subscription is a must, especially if you have a niche not relating to technology. Learn more about Email Subscriptions here.

3. Ask the reader to Subscribe at the end of your post: If a person has read the entire post, this means he/she likes the content and is a potential subscriber, all you need to do is show him a subscription link. You may want to add “Add to Google Reader”, “Add to Netvibes” etc. buttons if you think that your readers would prefer that. But remember not to overdo it.

4. Give away some Goodies to the Subscribers: If you have many subscribers then randomly pick one every week and give them some goodies. You can have a “Subscriber of the Week” just below your RSS icon. Incase you are looking for subscribers host a contest where every participant needs to subscribe to RSS.

5. Offer a full feed: Lot of people ask me if it is a good idea to offer full post in the feed? The answer is Yes. It is annoying to see only a summary of the post, this might make the reader unsubscribe. You can always put ads in your feeds, but remember not to overdo it.

6. Display FeedBurner Feed Count: If you have over 300 subscribers then it is a good idea show your feed count. This will help convince the reader that the blog is offering good content.

Things that Irritates Digg users !

I have been using Digg for more than 4 months. There is something that need to Understood for becoming a Successful Digg user. I have heard that Digg Users are weird and dont give a digg even if the article deserves , but this is not true. You need to Understand what every Digger likes or hates. This will help you to become a successful and Good digg user.
Read the following very carefully. I wrote this with my little observation.

The Following are things that irritates most of the diggers.

1) "Can You Share this with your Friend ."

This is the most common thing in Mutual Digg friends that irritates the most of the Diggers . This is not applicable to all diggers as some digg users are so good that they feel good to share for a friend. Every digger wants to promote his Own article. So after Submitting the article he asks some Diggers to Share it with their friends. The Digger who is asked to share may find this irritating. You Must not ask to share untill or Unless he is your good friend . Ask him to Share only if he wants to, otherwise you both will endup in cold " IM war ".(Instant Messaging War)

2) Getting similar Shout more than twice...

Many Diggers hates getting Similar Shout more than twice including me. Digger hates it as they feel, "What the hell ( i dont like using F-word ) , i just saw this article two minutes before ."

If you think that shouting more than twice will help you to promote your article or submission then you are wrong. Getting a similar Shout more than twice is really irritating. Your article might be Undigged even if you wrote a very good article. You will also lead to be out of his Mutual friendlist.

Try not to shout more than twice. You can shout if you really need a Push for getting your article on Front Page. Another shout is Understandable only if you a need few digg for making your article on Front page. This doesnt mean that that you have shout when you got less than 60 diggs for makingup a Front page. The second Shout is acceptable only if you have above 60 diggs. If you got less than 60 digg in 20 hrs. Forget that submission and go for anther one

3) Rude and Abusive Comments ..

Rude and abusive people are never welcomed .Everybody likes Good and positive comments. Be sure that you write a good comment even if you dont like the article. Try to give such comments which will help him to improve his skills. If you write a rude comment your comment will surely get buried (atleast by the author ).

You must know that even Digg don't like rude comments and therefore there is a " Report it " link given, Where Digg is asking that "is this User being offensive." So be careful that you dont hurt someone's feeling and also save yourself from getting banned.

4) Getting banned ..

Of course, its very fustrating and irritating when you get Banned. Remember, no one can ban you unless or untill you did something wrong or bad. You pay for what you do. So take care while digging that you dont do anything that is Wrong, bad or against TOS. I know it feels so bad when you lose a hard built profile in just few seconds.

Try to follow rules, as they are not meant to be broken.

5) Behave like a Human .. We are not Robots.

Don't force your Mutual Digg friend to digg each and every article. This is very irritating when someone just keeps on asking you for digg constantly on IM. If you do this then there will be no difference between shout and IM. Shout is a request message to check out the submitted article and IM is something more important for conversations.

Your Friend is a Human, not Robot or your slave. Let him decide whether the article deserves a digg or not.

Human is a social animal and loves to live in group or company. Also Interact with him so that you can make your work interesting by meeting different kind of people.

If you think i missed anything , please let me know .
